Anchors Beyond Gravity

Gray Areas, Experimental Video, Book Design

Anchors Beyond Gravity is a visual research project focusing on the urban "interstitial spaces". By contrasting the gap spaces in modern urban residential areas with those in urban villages, the project reveals the underlying different power dynamics at play.

Within the interstitial spaces of urban villages, residents engage in spontaneous occupation and transformation, leading to a creative redefinition of space. This process is not merely a practical adaptation but, more importantly, a reconfiguration of the self-space relationship within the existing power structure, demonstrating remarkable vitality and autonomy.

Through an accordion-fold book and an experimental video, I construct a visual dialogue between these two types of spaces, exploring the untamed, primal vitality inherent in these marginalized zones.
